Point of View | Jon Lynn in Tokyo

All photos and words by Jon Lynn.

For ten days in April this year I went to visit my friends Coley Brown and Marcel Castenmiller in Tokyo. By chance I ended up booking the trip during a beautiful two week span where the cherry blossoms are in bloom and the Tokyo residents celebrate in the park ('Sakuras'), our park was Yoyogi in Shibuya, and it was a short walk from our apartment. Shibuya is like NYC's SOHO but better because the streets are hilly and diagonal.

My objective was to have the best time ever with Coley and Marcel, play music in Japan, eat the craziest food possible, and discover everything I've been looking for in America but couldn't find in the States. So here's a quick list of it all....

-Visiting a real traditional shrine in Asakusa
-Desert with Anime looking maids, so hot!
-Raw squid and wasabi just out of the tank
-Sushi on the conveyer belt
-Shopping for synth replacement parts in Akahabra, worlds largest electronics distric
-Celebrated a friends birthday party at a jail restaurant, yeah they locked you up
-Wbase bike shop, they let me ride a BMX
-Playing music at the Sakura party's in Yoyogi park
-Nights in Shibuya at the crossing, similar to Times square
-Shopped a day for inspiration and dropped it off at the Japanese headquarters of the place I work
-Every cherry blossom tree was in bloom
-Played the most mind warping video games ever
-Observed the Japanese obsession with bikes
-Coley organized a photo show and I played music there afterwords
-So many translation errors which I love dearly
-Got a haircut and couldn't tell the guy to stop cutting
-Getting asked to play music at the fancy Le Baron my last night
-Real Japanese school girls!
-Saw a shelf that sold guns next to Hentai (Anime porn)
-Harajuku girls everywhere, look it up
-Japanese architecture, automobiles, and culture in general
-Had a traditional home cooked meal with a family just before I left.
